不可視の地下構造への考察を反映し、過去に現地へ行ったことのある場所の地図から、地面に起こる侵食や堆積と水の関係を読み取り、掛け合わせたものを作品として提示しました。湖が出来る要因は様々ですが、形状には地盤の硬さや地層などの地質による操作できない条件が影響しています。この作品の穴の形も本来の湖と同様に木材の節や木目に影響されながら地図上の湖から離れていく一方で、水と手に現れる作用は近しく、ものとしてそれらに近寄っていったのです。

Reflecting his consideration of invisible underground structures, Katayama read maps of places he had visited in the past to the relationship between erosion and sedimentation that occur on the ground and water and presented them as works. There are many factors that contribute to the formation of lakes, but the shape is influenced by inoperable conditions due to geology, such as the hardness of the ground and the strata. While the shape of the holes in this work, like the original lake, was influenced by the knots and grain of the wood, moving away from the mapped lake, the action of the water and its appearance in the hands was closer to them as objects.
